Man charged with the murder of Jennifer Williams

Stefan Mayne, 26, from Bournemouth was charged today with the murder Jennifer Williams, 25, from Bournemouth who died after being stabbed to death at her home in Colehill Crescent, Bournemouth, on June 20, 2015.

John Montague, Senior District Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service in Wessex, said: "I have today authorised Dorset Police to charge Stefan Mayne with murder.

"It is alleged that Stefan Mayne stabbed to death Jennifer Williams at her home. Ms Williams was attended to by neighbours after she escaped her home, suffering several serious stab wounds. She died in the early hours of the following morning after doctors at Poole Hospital tried to save her.

"I carefully reviewed all the available evidence provided to me by Dorset Police, and in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors, I am satisfied that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and it is in the public interest to prosecute Stefan Mayne for the murder of Jennifer Williams.

"He will appear at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 24 June 2015.

"Proceedings are now ongoing and the defendant has the right to a fair trial. It is very important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."
