23/05/2014

John Montague Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service in Wessex said: " We welcome the decision of the Court of Appeal to increase the sentence of Rachel Kenehan who assisted very dangerous offenders currently serving life imprisonment for the murder of Jahmel Jones.

"Rachel Kenehan was sentenced to three and half years on 3 March 2014, at Winchester Crown Court for conspiring to supply Class A , assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.

"We carefully considered this sentence and were of the view that this sentence should be sent to the Attorney Generals Office for the Law Officers to consider whether they should refer this sentence to the Court  of Appeal.

"Today the Court of Appeal decided that Rachel Kenehan should serve five of years in prison, a sentence that reflects the seriousness of  the offence."
