Alvin Santos charged with the murder of Linda Lietaviete

John Montague, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in Wessex said: "I have authorised Dorset Police to charge Alvin Santos, 25, from Bournemouth, with the murder of 16-year-old, Linda Lietaviete. Miss Lietaviete was fatally stabbed and her body was discovered by paramedics at Horseshoe Commons grounds, Bournemouth, in the early hours of Friday 13 December 2013.

"I have reached my decision after carefully considering all the available evidence provided to me by Dorset Police and I am satisfied, in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors, that there is sufficient evidence and that it is in the public interest to prosecute Alvin Santos for this offence.  Miss Lietaviete has died in tragic circumstances and I would like to extend my very deepest sympathies to her families and friends."

Alvin Santos will appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on 18 December 2013.
