Samuel Etherington,20, of Gosport, Hampshire has been charged with two offences of manslaughter following the investigation into the deaths of two teenage girls., Jasmine Allsop, aged 14 and Olivia Lewry, aged 16 both from Gosport.

Ian Harris, Head of the Crown Prosecution Services Complex Casework Unit in Wessex said: "I  have today authorised Hampshire Constabulary to charge Samuel Etherington, 20, of Gosport, Hampshire, with two offences of gross negligence manslaughter following an investigation into the death of Jasmine Allsop, 14, and Olivia Lewry, 16, after the car he was driving collided with them in Ann's Hill Road in Gosport in the early hours of Sunday 3 November 2013.  I have reached my decision after carefully considering all the available evidence provided to me by Hampshire Constabulary.

"I am satisfied, in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors, that there is sufficient evidence and that it is in the public interest to prosecute Samuel Etherington for these offences.  Jasmine and Olivia have died in tragic circumstances and I would like to extend my very deepest sympathies to their families and friends.
I would like to remind everyone that nothing should be published that could prejudice the trial of Mr Etherington."

Samuel Etherington will appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on 7 November 2013.
