Nick Hawkins, Chief Crown Prosecutor

Nick qualified as a barrister whilst serving in the Royal Navy.  In a 22 year career he held both operational and specialist legal appointments serving in the Falklands, Caribbean, Far East, the Gulf, as well as in the UK.  His final appointment was to set up and head the Naval Prosecuting Authority independent of the chain of command and with worldwide jurisdiction.

He joined the CPS as Chief Crown Prosecutor for Wiltshire in 1999, moving to Hampshire and Isle of Wight as CCP in 2003.  He's been involved in a number of national programmes including the advocacy strategy and has helped establish CPS advocates in the Crown Courts nationwide.  He currently leads on sports matters and has a particular interest in prosecuting violence and disorder around football. 

Kate Brown, Deputy Chief  Crown Prosecutor

Kate began prosecuting for the CPS in 1994 in Shropshire, moving to Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset. 

She held a variety of positions before becoming the District Crown Prosecutor for South East Hampshire in 2004. In November 2006 she was appointed as the Temporary Chief Crown Prosecutor for Dorset and was permanently appointed to that role in September 2007.   Kate is also a Crown Advocate. 

On 1 April 2011 Kate became the Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for Wessex. 

Denise Meldrum, Area Business Manager 

 

Denise has worked for the CPS since October 1986. She started her career as an Administrator covering magistrates' court work. She has had a varied career, working as a Paralegal Officer, Branch Office Manager, plus other roles. She spent 18 months in private practice before coming back to the CPS as Area Business Manager for Hampshire and Isle of Wight in 2002.

Denise was the SABM for Wessex from the move toward a group structure. She led the first stage of the national project to design the paralegal structure and continues to take the lead on a number of national working groups and forums. 

On 1 April Denise became Area Business Manager for Wessex. 

Jason Putman, Business Change & Delivery Manager

Jason joined CPS Dorset in 1988 as a Caseworker. In September 1989 he was promoted,  in November 1993 he was promoted to Branch Office Manager.

Jason became Area Business Manager for Dorset in April 1999.

On 1 April 2011 Jason became the Business Change and Delivery Manager for Wessex.
