Victims and Witnesses
Victims and witnesses are central to everything we do and their evidence is vital to a successful prosecution. However, being a witness in Court can be a very daunting experience.
Each local Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) team in Wales has a dedicated Witness Care Unit, dedicated to supporting witnesses through what can be an extremely traumatic time.
If you are asked to be a witness, you can get help with important arrangements like transport or childcare. We can arrange interpreters if English is not your first language. We can also talk to you if you are afraid that you might be intimidated or vulnerable in any way. If this is the case we can ask the court for special measures for you while you give your evidence.
By giving victims and witnesses the best support possible, we aim to reduce the number of cases that have to be dropped because of problems with witnesses.
