William Jones charged with Peter Lewis murder

The 31-year-old man arrested on suspicion of the murder of Peter Lewis at Roath in Cardiff has now been charged.

Paul Hewitt, Senior Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service in Wales, said: "The Crown Prosecution Service has been working closely alongside South Wales Police as their investigation into this murder has progressed.

"We can now confirm that, having carefully examined a file of evidence provided by South Wales Police, we concluded that there is sufficient evidence to charge William Stephen Jones with the murder of Peter Lewis and that it is in the public interest to do so. Accordingly, we advised South Wales Police to charge him.

"The defendant will appear at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Thursday 3 May.

"William Jones now stands charged with an extremely serious criminal offence and has the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that nothing should be published that could prejudice his trial."
