Stabbing in Sandfields results in man's death

Nicholas John Sloots pleaded guilty to manslaughter on 5 July and was later sentenced at Swansea Crown Court.

He was at an address in Dalton Road in the Sandfields area when Marcus Sheppard and another arrived in the early hours of the morning.
Sloots came out of the house with a kitchen knife, and during a struggle stabbed Sheppard three times.

Felicity Galvin of the Crown Prosecution Service said: "Knife crime can have extremely serious consequences, both for those who carry or use them, and those who are victims of knife crime.  This case is an illustration of that.

"As a direct result of knife crime a father of three found himself in hospital and ultimately lost his life."

Nicholas Sloots was sentenced to nine years imprisonment on 7 July 2017.

Felicity added: "Our thoughts are with Marcus' family who have shown strength throughout this difficult process and we thank them for their support."
