Our plans for a digital CPS rely on close co-operation with all our partners in the criminal justice system.

With that in mind, we have gathered together information and resources that we believe will be of interest to our criminal justice partners throughout Wales.

 

Digital Defence - Secure Email

In the existing, paper-based criminal justice system, one of the biggest areas of paper generation is in the sending and receiving of information between prosecution and defence teams.

We believe that widespread use of secure email will go a long way toward reducing the need for this paperwork and will be one of the most important factors in our ability to successfully deliver our services electronically.

With that in mind, we want to encourage defence solicitors throughout Wales to sign up for CJSM secure email accounts.

CJSM secure email is a safe, efficient alternative to regular email, fax and post. When messages and documents are sent by secure email, the information contained in those messages and documents is encrypted, so it can only be read by the intended recipient. By contrast, regular emails can be intercepted and read by just about anyone.

The CJSM secure email service allows people working within in the criminal justice system to send emails containing restricted or sensitive data in a secure way, reducing the need for paper copies.
