Woman charged with murder - Milton Keynes

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a woman with murder.

Mr John Sampford, aged 83, was strangled at his home in Bancroft Park on 05 July 2013.

Mrs Sheila Sampford, aged 75, of Spoonley Wood, Bancroft Park was charged earlier today, Wednesday, 09 October 2013, with murder.

Baljit Ubhey OBE, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Sheila Sampford.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge Sheila Sampford with murder.

"The charges are in relation to the murder of 83-year-old John Sampford at his home in Bancroft Park on 05 July 2013.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Mrs Sampford was remanded in custody to appear at Milton Keynes Magistrates' Court today, Wednesday, 09 October 2013.
