William Jordan sentenced

21/12/2006

Today's sentencing at Oxford Crown Court of Will Jordan for bigamy, an array of deception offences and failure to notify of his whereabouts in accordance with the sex offenders' register is welcomed by the Crown Prosecution Servce (CPS).

Mr Jordan received a total of 60 months imprisonment for the totality of his offending and an order was made that the stun gun found in his possession is forfeited and destroyed.

CPS lawyer in the case, Andrew Morgan, commented: Jordan is a serial fantasist who had no regard for the effect on those around him of the lies he told.  The offence of bigamy is one of the gravest breaches of trust imaginable and at least two families have been deeply affected as a result of his deception.  .

Aside from the emotional trauma suffered by his two wives Mary Thompson and Julie Bringhurst, both suffered grave financial loss.

The prosecution team worked hard in uncovering the complex subterfuge created by Jordan.  Todays result is the culmination of 12 months work in putting together a strong case which led to Jordans guilty pleas to the charges.  The CPS very much welcomes the substantial custodial sentence handed down today which will keep this manipulative person from offending again.
