Violent man jailed for 15 months, for attacking girlfriend - Luton

A violent bully who attacked his girlfriend in her room at a hostel in Hitchin, leaving her with "awful" injuries, has been jailed for 15 months.

Raymond Small, 23, launched a brutal and sustained attack on the young woman, kicking and punching her about her limbs and body.

It was the culmination of months of violence towards the girl, who was described as "timid and passive."

Small, of Pix Road, Letchworth, pleaded guilty at Luton Crown Court to assaulting the girl and causing her actual bodily harm.

The court was told she has now finished with him following the daytime attack on 05 June  this year, at Jubilee House in Hitchin.

Sylvia Booker prosecuting said , there had been an argument between the pair earlier in the day.Small later went to visit her and as they walked up the staircase to her room he said "Watch."

The girl didn't understand what he meant but on entering the room it became painfully clear when straight away he began punching her in the stomach and thigh.

He kicked her about her legs and punched her in the middle of her back sending her crashing to the floor. He pulled her hair and punched her in the face.

Miss Booker said the girl managed to flee from the hostel and it was after keeping an appointment with a housing official that police were informed and Small was arrested.

The court heard, the attack was Small's way of "teaching her a lesson" that she shouldn't cross him.

Photographs of the girl's injuries were produced in court after Miss booker said "These pictures show the gravity of the offence"
