Update on drugs operation - Hemel Hempstead

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary to charge five men with offences relating to the supply of drugs in Hemel Hempstead, following the second phase of an operation to crack down on drugs in the town.

Six arrests were made on Wednesday, 23 January 2013, following the execution of eight warrants in Hemel Hempstead, Watford, St Albans, and North London.  This followed seventeen arrests, which were made on Wednesday, 16 January 2013, as part of the same operation (phase one).

The following two people were charged and remanded in police custody to appear at Hatfield Remand Court yesterday, Thursday, 24 January 2013, where they were further remanded:

  • Ermal Aliaj, aged 31, from Medway Road, Hemel Hempstead, was charged with the supply of class A drugs
  • Baris Tek, aged 21, from Whippendell Road, Watford, was charged with the supply of class A drugs.

Daniel South, aged 34, from Sempill Road, Hemel Hempstead, was charged with the supply of class A and class B drugs. He was remanded in police custody, appeared at the Hatfield Remand Court yesterday, pleaded guilty, and was released on bail.

Brian Millgate, aged 48, from Upper Lattimore Road, St Albans, was charged with the supply of class A and B drugs, and theft. He was released on police bail.

George Jones, aged 18, from Curtis Drive, Watford, was charged with supply of class B drugs. He was released on police bail.

A 50-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.  He received a police caution.

As part of the same operation, a 17-year-old boy from London was arrested on Monday, 21 January 2013, and subsequently charged with the supply of class A drugs. He appeared at St Albans Youth Court on Wednesday, 23 January 2013, and was remanded into custody.

Following last weeks' arrests the following five men pleaded guilty at court and are all due to be sentenced at St Albans Crown Court next month:

  • Paul Stanley, aged 45, from Alexandra Road, Hemel Hempstead, who was charged with handling stolen goods and the supply of class A drugs
  • Gerald Donaldson, aged 50, of no fixed address, who was charged with handling stolen goods and the supply of class A and B drugs
  • Danny Francis, aged 30, from Vestry Road, London, who was charged with the supply of class A drugs
  • Christopher Rumney, aged 27, from Austin Road, Dunstable, who was charged with the supply of class A and B drugs
  • Andrew Lockett, aged 35, from Hyperion Court, Hemel Hempstead, who was charged with the supply of class B drugs and possession of class B drugs.
