Two men jailed for burglary - Luton

Two Luton men have each been jailed for six months after being caught burgling a house in the town.

It was on 13 April this year that officers raced to the house after getting a tip off from a member of the public that a burglary was underway.

After entering the house in Edward Road around 11pm, police found Ryan Gibson, 21, on the premises. Stephen O'Dell, 21, was found hiding in the loft.

The pair appeared at Luton Crown Court on Friday, 11 May 2012 to be sentenced for a single offence of burglary.

Entry to the house had been gained after a rear window was smashed.

The occupants had left a short while before, leaving their home secure and locked.

O'Dell of Old Bedford Road, Luton, had chalked up six previous convictions and Gibson of Birkley Path had two previous convictions.

Recorder Gabrielle Posner told the men it was a "nasty opportunistic offence."
