Three found guilty in connection with shooting - Bedford


A man charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm has today, Friday, 01 June 2012, been found guilty at Luton Crown Court.

Akhtar Miah, aged 25, of Queens Road, London was arrested on 09 December 2011, and pleaded not guilty, but at a trial, which finished today, Friday, 01 June 2012, he was found guilty of both charges.

Fahim Khan, aged 18, of Fenlake Road, Bedford, and a 17-year-old juvenile, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were also found guilty of the possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear.

The incident happened at the Peri Peri take away in Midland Road, Bedford on 23 November 2011, when a customer, aged 34, was shot in the face at point blank range.

The court had heard how the victim was in the restaurant at approximately 1.50am when the three defendants entered and one of the men shot at him. The offenders fled from the shop and the victim received treatment for superficial pellet wounds to his face.

Sentencing will take place at Luton Crown Court on Friday, 29 June 2012.
