CPS Thames Valley launches new website

04/08/2008

In an effort to make the criminal justice system more open and accessible, CPS Thames Valley today launched a new website and e-mail address.

Baljit Ubhey, Chief Crown Prosecutor said:

"CPS Thames Valley is committed to engaging with the increasingly diverse communities that we serve.  We want to provide a fair and equitable service for everyone, and to achieve that it is important that people understand how the criminal justice system works and how we reach our decisions."

"Our new website will provide the communities of Thames Valley with a very important avenue into understanding how the CPS works locally.  We want to make the work of CPS Thames Valley more visible and we hope the website will help improve the dialogue with our communities as well as making us easier to contact."

Karen Sawitzki, Senior Area Business Manager added:

"Initially, the website provides information about who we are and what we do; explains the process we follow when deciding to charge defendants and prosecute cases; and outlines the help and support that we offer victims and witnesses.  The site also includes information about our community engagement activities and careers information."

"Over time the website will grow to contain a wider range of information and we would like to hear from members of the public about how they would like to see the site develop; we would also welcome their views about the service the CPS provides, via our new dedicated e-mail address."

The website address is www.cps.gov.uk/thames_chiltern and the new e-mail address is CPS.CommsThValley@cps.gsi.gov.uk
