Teacher charged with sexual offences - Oxfordshire

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a teacher with four sexual offences in Oxfordshire.

Christopher Field, aged 46, of Green Lane, Chieveley, was charged last Thursday, 14 May 2015, with three charges of assault on a girl under 13 by touching and inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity. 

The charges are in relation to incidents, which are alleged to have occurred against two victims between 2010 and 2012 at Woodcote Primary School in Oxfordshire while Field was Headteacher at the school. 

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Christopher Field. 

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge the man with four sexual offences. 

"The charges are in relation to incidents, which are alleged to have occurred against two victims between 2010 and 2012 at Woodcote Primary School in Oxfordshire while Field was Headteacher at the school. 

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors." 

Field is due to appear at Oxford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 16 June 2015. 

Criminal proceedings are active and defendants have the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no commentary or reporting which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.
