Robbery gang jailed for a total of 17 years - Harpenden

Three men from Hertfordshire appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Friday, 03 May 2013, and were jailed for a total of 17 years after pleading guilty to a robbery and kidnap, which occurred in Harpenden.

Jamie Kalaiarasu, Ashley Latimer-Bassill, and Daniel Stanley stole thousands of pounds worth of jewellery in a raid at Loveweds Jewellers in the High Street on Wednesday, 20 March. They forced a member of staff into a car and forced him to hand over his shop keys in order to gain access to the goods.

Detectives from the Local Crime Unit in St Albans launched an investigation, codenamed Operation Brad, and as a result the three offenders were arrested in less than a week of the crime being committed.

Kalaiarasu, aged 22, of Archer Road, Stevenage, and Latimer-Bassill, aged 24 of Crane Mead, Ware, were sentenced to six years in prison. Stanley aged 24 of Travellers Lane, Hatfield, was sentenced to five years in prison.
