Paedophile jailed for making and distributing indecent images of children - Eastbourne

A paedophile, who posed as a 17-year-old to get boys to send him explicit images of themselves, was jailed for 4 years and 4 months today, Monday, 14 December 2015.

Trevor Metcalfe, aged 52, also shared his huge collection of child sex abuse images with other paedophiles over the Internet.

Beverley Cripps, prosecuting for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) told St Albans Crown Court that the number of illegal movies and images found by the police were 'too vast to analyse.' She said there were between 10,000 and 30,000 movies.

Most of the images and movies were of boys aged between 10 and 15, though some were as young as 5. They included all levels of seriousness from Category A to C. Metcalfe was using three different email addresses and a Russian site to swap and share images.

Officers went to an address in Hertford on 31 July 2014, to speak to Metcalfe, but he had moved to Eastbourne. He was arrested in Eastbourne and two computers were seized. While he was on bail pending further enquiries, he rang the police himself to say that he had breached his bail conditions by downloading more images. A laptop and two more computers were seized.

Metcalfe, of Hurst Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to 23 charges: inciting child pornography, eleven of distributing indecent images of children, eleven of making (downloading) indecent images of children.

Judge Jonathan Carroll jailed him for a total of 52 months. He must register as a Sex Offender for life and must abide by the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
