Man to face charges for fatal road traffic collision - Norfolk

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Essex Police to charge a man with causing death by dangerous driving.

Henry Phillip Stafford Bett, aged 26, from Hall Lane, Thornham, Norfolk, has been summonsed to appear at King's Lynn Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 10 December 2014, where he will face the charge.

The collision between a Fiat people carrier and Fendt tractor occurred on West Acre Road, Castle Acre, Norfolk at approximately 3.20pm Wednesday, 04 December 2013. The female driver of the Fiat sadly died at the scene.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Essex Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Henry Bett.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Essex Police to charge the man with causing death by dangerous driving.

"The charge relates to a fatal road traffic collision, which occurred on West Acre Road, Castle Acre, Norfolk at approximately 3.20pm Wednesday, 04 December 2013.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Criminal proceedings are active and defendants have the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no commentary or reporting which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.
