Man jailed for three years for causing death by dangerous driving - Royston

A Royston man has been sentenced to three years in custody and has been disqualified from driving for three years at Cambridge Crown Court today, Friday, 16 March 2012, following a collision which resulted in the death of a 3-year-old girl.

Carlo Zambonini, 58, of Old North Road, Royston pleaded guilty to the charge of causing death by dangerous driving at a hearing in December.

The charge followed an incident on Kneesworth Street, Royston on 29 May 2011 when the Mazda MX5 he was driving mounted the pavement and collided with three-year-old Frances Chin as she walked along the pavement with her mother, aunt and sister.

Sadly, Frances later died in hospital and her aunt was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
