Man jailed for sexual offences - Hemel Hempstead


A man appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Friday, 03 October 2014, and was jailed for nine years after being found guilty of a number of sexual offences including rape.

Robert Atkinson, aged 41, from Cleves Road, Hemel Hempstead, was convicted by a jury on 22 August of five counts of rape, attempted rape, two counts of causing actual bodily harm (ABH), and assault by beating.

As well as the nine years imprisonment and the additional three years on licence, Atkinson was also sentenced to the following to run concurrently - six years for attempted rape, 12 months for ABH and one month for assault by beating. He was also given a lifetime restraining order and a lifetime Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO).
