17/09/2012

Welwyn Garden City man David King has been jailed for 9-months after being found guilty of sex offences involving two young boys.

King, 55, of Timber Croft in the town appeared at St Albans Crown Court today, Monday, 17 September 2012, to be sentenced.

He was found guilty earlier this summer of 11 offences in total going back to the late 1980s.

One of the youngsters was aged around 11 when the offences began and they continued into his teens. The second youngster was aged around 13.

The court heard the offences on the boys involved fondling, inappropriate touching, kissing and cuddling the boys, who are now grown men.

Today Judge John Plumstead who had presided over the trial was told King, a married man, had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes since 1994 and had a number of health problems and was now virtually housebound.

In addition to the prison sentence, King was told he will not be able to be in the company of any child under 16 without another adult being present. He was disqualified from working with any youngster and his name will be added to the sex offenders' register for an indefinite period.
