Man jailed for robbery at family home - Reading

A man appeared at Reading Crown Court on Friday, 20 March 2015, and was jailed for 12 years for a robbery at a family home in Reading.

Simeon Maraj-Bennett, aged 23, of Northumberland Avenue, Reading was found guilty of robbery by a jury at Reading Crown Court on 10 February after a nine-day trial.

At around 1am on 31 March 2014, a family, a woman in her forties and her sons, were at their home in Cresswell Close, Reading when three men broke in by smashing the rear patio door.

One of her sons, aged in his twenties, was hit by a baseball bat. The mother tried to escape to the bathroom with her youngest child to call for help, but was dragged back into her bedroom.  The group of men demanded cash and made off with £600.
