Man jailed for robbery - Reading


A man appeared at Reading Crown Court on Friday, 25 October 2013, and was jailed for more than nine years after being convicted of a robbery during which a gun was used.

Uchechi Ndukwe, aged 19, of Richmond Road, London, was sentenced at after pleading guilty on the first day of his trial.

He was charged on 13 May with robbery, possession of a firearm, and possession of a class A drug (cocaine).

The charges were in relation to an incident, which occurred in Garnet Hill, Reading,  on 12 May when Ndukwe broke in to a family's home with another man and demanded drugs or money from the victims with a loaded gun, before stealing electrical items.

One of the victims, a man in his fifties, sustained a bite wound and scratches during the robbery.

Ndukwe was given two sentences of nine years'  imprisonment for the robbery and the possession of a firearm, which will be served concurrently. He was also sentenced to two months' imprisonment for the possession of cocaine, which will be served consecutively to the nine-year sentence.
