18/01/2013

A man from Hemel Hempstead has been sentenced to 11 years imprisonment for committing a robbery at an off licence in the town.

21-year-old Marc Lofting of The Denes, Hemel Hempstead, appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday, 15 January 2013, and pleaded guilty to robbing Dawn 2 Dusk in The Heights on 22 November 2012.

Lofting went into the store wearing a balaclava, fired what was believed to be an air pistol at an employee's face and demanded they open the till. The employee refused and was shot at a further two times. Lofting then took a bottle of whiskey and made off, without any money from the till.
