Man jailed for making and distributing indecent images of children - Luton

A man, who viewed and distributed some of the worst images of child porngraphy that police had seen, has been jailed for two years and eight months today, Friday, 26 February 2016.

Some of the pictures and films showed babies suffering "the most horrific sexual abuse" said Judge Richard Foster at Luton Crown Court.

Dave Wilson, aged 62, was caught after police in America intercepted a forum in which he believed he was talking to a 13-year-old girl in sexually explicit terms.

Police in Bedfordshire then raided his home in Wellington Street, Luton on 14 June 2014, and seized computer equipment and a laptop. Examination of them revealed 1247 still pictures and 59 videos of child pornography, covering all three categories of seriousness.

Prosecutor, Will Noble said: "Not only had he been viewing the images himself, there is evidence of some of them being shared with like minded individuals." He said a police officer, experienced in child abuse cases, considered they were some of the worst images she had ever seen. Mr Noble said most of the photographs were of girls aged between six months and twelve years, one possibly being a new born baby. "They were tied and bound and being sexually abused, and the children were clearly in considerable distress."

Wilson, who is unemployed, pleaded guilty to twelve counts of making and distributing child sexual images, movies and pseudo images. One charge related to extreme adult pornography.

Tim Nutley, defending, said Wilson had never been convicted of any sexual offences before. He said he suffered poor health and would find imprisonment much harder than a younger man in good health.

Judge Foster said that, unusually, he had been asked to view some of the images rather than rely on police descriptions. "It was quite right that I did because what I saw was really quite appalling and shocking and showed babies, in some cases, suffering the most horrific sexual abuse. The evil of this trade is that they are real people who really suffer these obscene acts for the sexual gratification of people like you."

In addition to the custodial sentence, Wilson was ordered to register as a sex offender and abide by a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.
