Man jailed for firearms offence - Cookham


A man appeared at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday, 08 July 2015, and was jailed for 10 years for a firearms offence in Cookham, Berkshire.

Frederick Evans, aged 42, from Wabourne Road, Bourne End, was sentenced after being found guilty by a jury at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday, 07 July 2015, of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life following an 11-day trial. In addition to the custodial sentence Evans was also given a restraining order.

At around 5pm on 22 February 2015, Evans attended a property in Sutton Road, Cookham with a loaded shotgun.  An argument ensued between himself and a man and woman in their forties at the property, who were known to him.  Evans discharged the shotgun twice.  Fortunately nobody was injured during the incident.
