Man jailed for drugs and firearms offences - Oxford

A 20-year-old man appeared at Oxford Crown Court yesterday, Tuesday, 23 July 2013, and was jailed for five years after pleading guilty to drugs and firearms offences.

Umair Khan, of Nye Bevan Close, Cowley, Oxford was charged on 24 January 2013, with possession of a class A drug with intent to supply, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a silencer, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

The charges relate to an incident in January 2013, during which Khan was stopped in Wolverhampton by plain clothed officers after another man was seen dropping off a bag into his car before walking away. Khan was searched and a bag containing £12,880 in cash was seized and he was arrested.

His home address was later searched and a further £7,000 cash was seized from his bedroom plus a money-counting machine, a bullet proof vest, and mobile phones. Khan's car was also searched and 2.5kg of class A drugs (street value of £385,000), a 9mm Baikal handgun, a silencer, and 20 rounds of ammunition were seized.
