Man jailed for child sexual offences - Hemel Hempstead

A man appeared at St Albans Crown Court today, Friday, 03 July 2015, and was jailed for 18 months for sexually assaulting a girl twenty years ago.

John Bones, aged 77, of Soloway, Hemel Hempstead was sentenced after being found guilty by a jury on 05 June 2015, of two counts of indecent assault on a girl, which occurred between September 1995 and May 1996.

Between September 1995 and May 1996 the victim, who was in her early teens, would visit Bones in his lock-up garage to talk to him about school. He would take her out in his car and inappropriately touch her.

The court heard how he told her that he loved her and how he gradually groomed her and coerced her into being controlled by him. The victim began being absent from school for long periods of time and gradually lost her friends. Bones told her that she did not need friends as he was her friend.
