Man jailed for child sexual offences and indecent images - Hemel Hempstead

A Hemel Hempstead man has today, Wednesday, 07 December 2016, been jailed for 6 years for abusing two children.

Alan Connolly, aged 33, admitted the offences to Hertfordshire police when officers arrested him for downloading indecent images of children, Luton Crown Court heard.

Prosecutor Douglas Page said Connolly volunteered the information after a raid on his home on 13 September this year. He told the police he had been looking at illegal images since he was 18.

Connolly appeared for sentence having pleaded guilty to four counts of sexually assaulting a child aged under 13, one of taking indecent photographs of a child, and three of making (downloading) indecent images of children.

There were 53 movies and 12 images at Category A, the most serious level. 74 movies and 29 images were at Category B and 46 movies and 22 images were at Category C, the lowest level.

Chris Georgiou, defending, said: "The sexual assault charges only come about because of his admissions. He is deeply sorry." While in custody he said Connolly wants to attend courses to rid himself of this behaviour.

Judge Lynn Tayton QC jailed him for 6 years with conditions that he register as a sex offender and abide by the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.
