Man jailed for burglaries - Luton

Luton man Imran Shah has today, Monday, 15 August 2016, been jailed for 16 months after a court heard how he broke into a shop in Dunstable Road, Luton in an attempt to then burgle the flat above.

He was thwarted because the woman occupant of the flat was woken by the noise made as Shah broke into the shop. She called the police and Shah, aged 38, of no fixed address, was arrested.

He appeared at Luton Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to the burglary of the shop and the attempted burglary of the woman's flat in the early hours of 03 July this year.

The court was told that having been woken by the noise from the shop below, the woman opened the front door of her flat to see Shah standing in a communal hallway. He had already tried to get into her flat and there was damage to the door.

Judge Michael Kay QC, hearing the case, was told Shah had 39 convictions for 112 offences, the majority of which were for commercial property burglaries.
