Man jailed for attempted murder - Slough

A man appeared at Reading Crown Court on Monday, 26 January 2015, and was jailed for 18 years after being convicted of attempted murder.

Murateb Hussain, aged 44, formerly of Fernleigh Row, Slough, had pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, but not guilty to attempted murder. He was found guilty by a jury on Thursday, 22 January 2015, of attempted murder after a four day trial.

Between 11.45pm on 31 March 2014, and 12.15am on 1 April 2014, Hussain repeatedly stabbed a woman in a car in Wexham Road, Slough.

She was treated in hospital for 12 stab wounds: seven in her abdomen, two to each breast and one to her left arm. When treated in hospital, a surgeon said she had been very lucky that none of her major organs had been damaged.

Hussain had driven the victim to hospital where he was arrested by officers and charged later the same day.
