A man appeared at Reading Crown Court on Friday, 26 April 2013, and was jailed for three and a half years for attempted child abduction and possessing indecent images of children.

Barry Collins, aged 55, from Hatton Grove, West Drayton, Middlesex, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted child abduction, and one count of possession of indecent images.

At about 11am on Thursday, 01 November 2012, Collins approached two girls, aged seven and eight, on Lower Cippenham Lane, Slough, and asked them for directions. Collins drove off, but returned a few minutes later and told both girls that if they got into the back of his car he would give them some money.

One girl got into the back of the car, and the other shouted at her to get out. A witness walking by then intervened and Collins drove off.

Collins was subsequently arrested later that afternoon. As part of their investigation, officers discovered indecent images on his computer, and on 27 November 2012, Collins was charged with the three offences.
