Man jailed for 18-years for rapes - Didcot

A 79-year-old man has been jailed for 18-years after being convicted of raping three girls.

Jim Summers, of Lyndene Road, Didcot, met two of his victims through his work as a volunteer for the Salvation Army in the 1980s.

Summers was found guilty of six counts of rape, and four counts of indecent assault on Friday, 03 August 2012, at Oxford Crown Court.

The investigation began in November 2010 when one of the victims came forward. Two further victims were identified during the course of the investigation and Summers was charged in October 2011 with numerous offences on three victims, who were all aged under 10-years-old at the time.
