Man jailed after seriously assaulting vulnerable woman - Letchworth

A man appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Monday, 10 August 2015, and was jailed for seven years for grievous bodily harm (GBH).

Peter Bone, aged 46, from Newells in Letchworth, was sentenced after being found guilty by a jury of GBH on 10 July 2015, after a 5-day trial.

In November 2013, the female victim sadly suffered a stroke which left her with severe disabilities and unable to communicate.  While she was in this extremely vulnerable condition, Bone inflicted such serious injuries on her that she sustained a brain haemorrhage, heavy bruising and scratches to her body.  The woman was taken to hospital via ambulance on 26 July 2014, and was found to have a total of 51 wounds to her head and body. Doctors were so concerned about her physical state that they contacted the police.

The victim now lives in permanent residential care.
