Man convicted of murder - Luton

A man appeared at Luton Crown Court on Friday, 25 April 2014, and pleaded guilty to murder.

John Evans, aged 56, of Thames Court, Trent Road, Luton, pleaded guilty to murdering his 70-year-old sister-in-law, Mary, known as May, on 18 November 2013, just 6-weeks after she had married his brother, David.

May died from stab wounds, which she received as she sat behind the wheel of her car in Trent Road, Luton while on her way to collect her grandson from school.

Judge Michael Kay QC said that Evans will receive a life sentence and the only question to be decided is the minimum term he will have to serve.

Evans has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Monday, 12 May 2014.
