Man convicted of manslaughter - Newbury


A man appeared at Reading Crown Court today, Friday, 30 January 2014, and pleaded guilty to killing his wife at their home in Newbury last year.

Nigel Talman, aged 60, of Carnarvon Place, Newbury, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

On 17 August 2014, officers attended a house in Carnarvon Place, Newbury at 7.28am, after receiving a call from Talman saying that he had killed his wife, Sandra.

Her body was discovered in the house, where she was pronounced dead by paramedics. A post mortem concluded that the cause of death was compression to the neck.

Talman was arrested at the address and then charged the following day, 18 August, with murder.

Talman will be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday, 20 February 2015.
