Man charged with woman's murder - Hemel Hempstead

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit to charge a man with the murder of a woman in Hemel Hempstead.

Marcin Porczynski, aged 25, of Claymore Avenue, Hemel Hempstead, was charged today, Wednesday, 16 September 2015, with murder, two charges of kidnap, and burglary with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.

The charges are in connection with the stabbing to death of 37-year-old Nicola Cross, the kidnapping of two children aged 3 and 6-years-old and a burglary, which all occurred in Dunlin Road, Hemel Hempstead late evening on Monday, 14 September 2015.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Marcin Porczynski.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit to charge Marcin Porczynski with murder, two charges of kidnap, and burglary with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.

"The charges are in connection with the stabbing to death of 37-year-old Nicola Cross, the kidnapping of two children aged 3 and 6-years-old and a burglary, which all occurred in Dunlin Road, Hemel Hempstead late evening on Monday, 14 September 2015.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Porczynski has been remanded in police custody and is due to appear at Hatfield Remand Court tomorrow, Thursday, 17 September 2015.
