Man charged with Trent Road murder - Luton
Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Bedfordshire Police to charge a man with murder.
John Evans, aged 56, from Thames Court, Trent Road, Luton, has been charged with the murder of Mary Evans, who was stabbed to death in her car in Trent Road, Luton on Monday afternoon.
Ruth Bowskill, Temporary Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Bedfordshire Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against John Evans.
"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Bedfordshire Police to charge the man with the murder of Mary Evans.
"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."
Evans has been remanded in police custody to appear at Luton Magistrates' Court this morning, Wednesday, 20 November 2013.
