Man charged with rape and indecent assault - Aylesbury

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with sex offences.

Michael Salmon, aged 78, from Wood Green, Hampshire, has today, Wednesday, 20 November 2013, been charged with rape and four charges of indecent assault.

Ruth Bowskill, Temporary Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Michael Salmon.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge the man with five sex offences.

"The charges relate to incidents involving four victims, which took place between 1972 and 1985 at various hospitals in the Aylesbury area, including Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Salmon was released on police bail to appear at Aylesbury Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 17 December 2013.

The charges stem from the Metropolitan Police Service's Operation Yewtree.
