Man charged with Poundland murder - Abingdon

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with the murder of a man in Abingdon.

Trevor Joyce, aged 36, of Franklyn Close, Abingdon was charged yesterday evening, Tuesday, 08 December 2015, with the murder of a man believed to be Justin Skrebowski, aged 61, from Oxford.  He has not been formally identified, but his next of kin have been informed.

The man died following an incident, which occurred on Monday, 07 December 2015, in Poundland in Abingdon. He is believed to have been a customer in the store when the incident took place.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Trevor Joyce.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge Trevor Joyce with the murder of a man in Abingdon.

"The man died following an incident, which occurred on Monday, 07 December 2015, in Poundland in Abingdon. He is believed to have been a customer in the store when the incident took place.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Joyce has been remanded in police custody to appear at Banbury Magistrates' Court today, Wednesday, 09 December 2015.
