Man charged with murdering landlord of a village pub

A Milton Keynes man has been charged with murdering the landlord of a village pub.

It is alleged that Bernardo Durantes (34) stabbed Jamie Ball (29) after a row during the morning of Tuesday, 28 December at the Globe Inn, Hanslope, near Milton Keynes.

The victim and his partner Emma, sister of the defendant, were the licensees of the Globe Inn. They had been running the pub for around 15 months, prior to which they lived in Buckingham.

Durantes, formerly from Edgware, had been staying at the pub since last year. He was arrested after the emergency services were called to the pub and held at Central Milton Keynes Police Station.

Durantes was charged yesterday (29 December) with murdering Mr Ball and is due to appear at Milton Keynes Magistrates' Court today.
