Man charged with murder of Uzbekistan man - Reading

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with the murder of a man in Reading.

Damir Begmatov, aged 25, of London Road, Reading was charged yesterday, Monday, 11 January 2016, with the murder of 36-year-old Bobir Esanov, known as Bob, who was an Uzbekistan national.

On Sunday, 27 December 2015, at around 4.20am officers were called by paramedics to an address in London Road between Liverpool Road and Manchester Road where a man had died.  The man was formally identified as Bobir Esanov.  Tests are being carried out to determine the cause of death.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Damir Begmatov.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge Damir Begmatov with the murder of a man in Reading.

"The man was found dead at an address in London Road on Sunday, 27 December 2015.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Begmatov has been remanded in police custody to appear at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court today, Tuesday, 12 January 2016.
