Man charged with murder - Welwyn Garden City

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary to charge a man with murder.

Paul Dillon, aged 52, of Little Hardings, has been charged with the murder of Scott Stone, aged 26, from Welwyn Garden City, who died at the scene of an incident in Guinness House, Little Hardings, Welwyn Garden City on Sunday,  16 March 2014.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Paul Dillon.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary to charge the man with murder.

"The charges are in connection with the death of a man in Welwyn Garden City on Sunday.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Paul Dillon has been remanded in police custody to appear at Hatfield Remand Court toda, Tuesday, 18 March 2014.

Criminal proceedings are active and defendants have the right to a fair trial.  It is extremely important that there should be no commentary or reporting which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.
