Man charged with murder - Turnford

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary to charge a man with murder.

Michael Turner, aged 56, of Landau Way, Turnford, has been charged with murder after a 50-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle in Groom Road, Turnford on Friday, 26 June 2015.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Michael Turner.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary to charge the man with murder.

"The charge is in relation to the death of a man in Groom Road, Turnford on Friday, 26 June 2015.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Turner has been remanded in police custody and is due to appear at Hatfield Remand Court today, Monday, 29 June 2015.

Criminal proceedings are active and defendants have the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no commentary or reporting which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.
