Man charged with murder - Newbury

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with murder.

Nigel Talman, aged 60, of Carnarvon Place, Newbury, was charged yesterday evening, Monday, 18 August 2014, with the murder of his wife Sandra Talman, aged 62, also of Carnarvon Place, Newbury.

Mrs Talman was found dead at her home address shortly after 7.30am Sunday, 17 August.  A post mortem concluded that Mrs Talman died as a result of compression to the neck.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Nigel Talman.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge the man with murder.

"The charge relates to the death of his wife, Sandra Talman, who was found dead at their home address Sunday, 17 August.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Talman has been remanded in custody to appear at Reading Magistrates' Court today, Tuesday, 19 August 2014.
