Man charged with murder - Little Gaddesden

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), has authorised officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary to charge a 55-year-old man with murder.

Ian McLoughlin has been charged with the murder of Graham Buck.  Graham was stabbed to death after going to assist a neighbour who was being robbed in Little Gaddesden on Saturday, 13 July.

McLoughlin has also been charged with robbery and possession of cannabis.

Baljit Ubhey OBE, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against the 55-year-old man.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary to charge the man with murder.

"The charges are in relation to an incident, which occurred in Little Gaddesden on Saturday, 13 July and resulted in the death of Graham Buck.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

McLoughlin has been remanded in police custody to appear before Hatfield Remand Court tomorrow morning, Friday, 19 July 2013.

McLoughlin was arrested in Tottenham in the early hours of yesterday morning, Wednesday, 17 July by the Metropolitan Police Service. The arrest was made following in-depth investigations by detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit.

Three further people were also arrested yesterday. Two of those have been charged with assisting an offender. They are:

  • 50-year-old David McCollin from Ridley Villas in Hackney
  • 54-year-old Shirley Dean from Ermine Road in Tottenham

They will also appear before Hatfield Remand Court tomorrow morning.

The third person, a 45-year-old woman from Edmonton, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
