Man charged with murder - High Wycombe

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with manslaughter.

Mr Edwin Smith,  aged 50,  was admitted to Wycombe Hospital on 21 January 2013,  and subsequently died on 31 January.

Terry Johnson, aged 44, of Rosebery Avenue,  High Wycombe was charged earlier today, Friday, 11 October 2013,  with manslaughter and administering a poison (heroin)  with intent.

Baljit Ubhey OBE, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Terry Johnson.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge Terry Johnson with manslaughter and administering a poison (heroin) with intent.

"The charges are in relation to the death of 50-year-old Edwin Smith on 31 January 2013.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Johnson has been released on bail to appear at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court Friday, 25 October 2013.
