Man charged with murder - Headington, Oxford

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with the murder of a man in Oxford.

Egidio Da Silva Alves, aged 27, of The Slade, Oxford, who was arrested on Monday, 13 February 2017, was charged today, Wednesday, 15 February 2017, with murder and possession of a bladed article.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Egidio Da Silva Alves.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge Egidio Da Silva Alves with murder and possession of a bladed article.

"The charges are in connection with the death of Dominqos Romalho, aged 35, from Oxford, who was found with stab wounds in Windmill Road, Headington, Oxford just before 3pm on Monday, 13 February 2017.  He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, where he died in the early hours of Tuesday, 14 February 2017.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Egidio Da Silva Alves was remanded in police custody to appear at Banbury Magistrates' Court this morning, Wednesday, 15 February 2017.
